Fujairah shines at spectacular World Taekwondo Cadet Championships Opening Ceremony

 

FUJAIRAH, UAE (May 10, 2025) - The rich culture of Fujairah was showcased during the Opening Ceremony of the World Taekwondo Cadet Championships.

 

The Opening Ceremony featured a series of spectacular performances by musicians and artists throughout which impressed the athletes, spectators and VIPs who gathered at the start of the biggest World Taekwondo Cadet Championships to date.

 

Crown Prince of Fujairah H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi was in attendance for this historic occasion.

 

World Taekwondo President Dr. Chungwon Choue expressed his gratitude to the Crown Prince and the President of the UAE Taekwondo Federation and World Taekwondo Council member Ahmed Hamdan Alzeyoudi for their unwavering support in organising an outstanding event.

 

“I am delighted for the global Taekwondo family to be here in Fujairah for the 7th World Taekwondo Cadet Championships,” President Choue said.

 

“For the first time in history, the Championships are being held in the UAE. This week we welcome more than 800 athletes from 89 MNAs, Independent Neutral Athletes and the Refugee Team. This is by far the largest-ever World Taekwondo Cadet Championships.

 

“You the Cadet athletes are the foundation of Taekwondo. We have seen athletes who competed at the World Taekwondo Cadet Championships becoming Olympic champions and World Championships medallists. It means that many of you here today will have the opportunity become global stars, but most importantly through Taekwondo you can become global citizens.”

 

UAE Taekwondo Federation President and World Taekwondo Council member Ahmed Hamdan Alzeyoudi also delivered a speech welcoming athletes to Fujairah for the Championships.

 

The Opening Ceremony included an oath taking ceremony on behalf of all referees, athletes and coaches, the parade of flags of each of the participating nations, and the playing of the UAE national anthem and the World Taekwondo anthem.

 

It concluded with a breath-taking performance by the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team, who demonstrated incredible skills and techniques to the joy of the crowd.

 

The World Taekwondo Cadet Championships will run until Wednesday (May 14).
