HONG KONG, China (Nov 29, 2024) - On the day prior to the start of the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Hong Kong, China, representatives from World Taekwondo and the Organising Committee were present at the Head of Team meeting.
World Taekwondo Vice-President and Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU) President Kyu Seok Lee welcomed the Heads of Teams to the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, which is featuring a record number of participating athletes and countries.
The meeting was held at the Regal Kowloon Hotel, and provided those in attendance with important information on the spectacular Hong Kong Coliseum venue, logistics and rules for competition in Recognised Poomsae and Freestyle Poomsae.
Heads of Teams then had the opportunity to have any questions answered by World Taekwondo and the Organising Committee.
The Heads of Teams meeting was followed by the drawing of lots for the competition, which will run from 30 November-4 December.
A welcome dinner was additionally held for in the evening, attended by World Taekwondo Vice-President Kyu Seok Lee, World Taekwondo Council member Kook Hyun Jung, Chief Honourable President of the Hong Kong, China Taekwondo Association Ching Men Ky, Hong Kong, China Taekwondo Association President Louis Ching, and Asian Taekwondo Union Secretary General Jung Heon Kim.
It featured an impressive performance by the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team.
World Taekwondo looks forward to an outstanding competition in Hong Kong, China which showcases Poomsae Taekwondo’s inclusivity and the extraordinary talents of participating athletes.
There are 1,727 athletes from 77 countries plus Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN) who are registered for the event.
After the conclusion of the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, there will be a celebration of this year’s outstanding achievements in the sport with the World Taekwondo 2024 Gala Award.
