World Taekwondo President meets with coaches ahead of World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final

 

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (Dec 7, 2022) - World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue and Secretary General Jeongkang Seo, along with the World Taekwondo Technical Committee, today met with coaches in Riyadh, ahead of the first World Taekwondo Grand Prix final in Saudi Arabia to discuss the development of Taekwondo.

 

Coaches from Canada Carla Marcilio, Italy Claudio Noland, Morocco David Sicot, Serbia Dragan Jovic, Thailand Youngseok Choi and USA Gareth Brown attended the meeting and engaged in a productive and engaged discussions on how taekwondo can further develop around the world.

 

President Choue said:

 

“At World Taekwondo we are always looking to improve and evolve. We have changed the rules of competition for every Olympic Games to make it more dynamic, more attractive for athletes and fans and more media friendly.

 

“At the Tokyo 2020, Para Taekwondo made its Paralympic Games debut and was such a success that the IPC has increased the sport’s medal events at Paris 2024; this reflects the appeal of our sport and its inclusivity. We will continue to evaluate our rules and how we can implement changes to make Taekwondo even more fun and exciting, while ensuring it remains fair and transparent. We welcome the views and opinions of our coaches as they have unique insights and experiences that we can learn from. We will create regular occasions to exchange insights and reflect the proposals of coaches on the rules and policies of World Taekwondo”

 

 

The World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final will take place in Riyadh on 9-10 December and once again attract some of the world’s best athletes from 40 countries and one refugee team. On the evening of 10 December the Gala Awards will recognise outstanding, athletes, coaches and MNAs including from Para Taekwondo for the first time.
