MANAMA, Bahrain (Nov 22, 2024) - A galaxy of stars is set to take centre stage when the 1st World Para Taekwondo Poomsae Championships – Bahrain 2024 (G-14) gets underway in Manama next week. This will be the first time that a World Para Taekwondo Poomsae Championships is held as a stand-alone event.
Top players from nations including Croatia, Great Britain, Columbia, Mexico and Australia will be demonstrating amazing skill, focus and technique in P20, P30, P50 and P70 categories.
The historic event, set to run on November 26 and 27, will have a record participation of 140 athletes from 23 countries, in addition to Individual Neutral Athletes (AINs), representing all five regions. The hosts too will be hoping to give their emerging players a platform to begin their journey and legacy to produce future champions.
The number is the highest ever in terms of participation and evidence of the growing interest and stronger competition as Para Poomsae takes its first step towards an application of inclusion in LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
World Taekwondo acknowledges the outstanding number of new athletes registered showcasing that the Bahrain event is activating the Asian region and the sport of Para Taekwondo Poomsae.
